Gilbert Ash Freemans School Ashtead
A highly prestigious project on a private school in Ashtead involving the removal, labelling and storage of over 1000m2 of Westmoorland Slates from all areas of the Main Hall being refurbished. Major structural works undertaken to bring the existing structure back to its original condition before refixing the salvaged Random slate to the Main House and importing Canadian Glendyne Slates in for the Dinning areas and outbuildings. All existing lead was replaced during the works using traditional methods including many areas requiring code 8 due to bay sizes. All the lead had to be formed off site due to restrictions and with over 800m2 of flat area, hidden gutters and internal outlets with over 60 tonnes of lead to lift, proved challenging to say the least. We were also contracted to construct a Dovecote during the works which was found to be beyond repair.
